Traditionally on the last Friday of August one could attend an opening exhibition of the 6th International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial "Z krosna do Krosna" organised by the Museum of Crafts in Krosno. One day earlier, on 6th of August, jury had awarded winners.

112 artworks had been submitted for the 6th edition of the competition (including 14 entries in DEBUTS category), sent by 79 artists from 9 countries: Czech Republic, Finland, Japan, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine, USA.


Judges: chairman Prof. Irena Huml (PAN Institute of Modern Art in Warsaw, Poland), members: Marta Hrebicková (Sarisska Galeria in Presov, Slovakia), Kostyal Laszlo (Gocseji Muzeum in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary), Norbert Zawisza (Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, Poland), Ewa Mańkowska (Museum of Crafts in Krosno, Poland) have awarded:

In DEBUTS category judges awarded Krystyna Grzybek, Poland.

The jury underlined a very high level of artworks submitted for the competition, noticing development and evolution of the International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial "Z krosna do Krosna". Particularly great attention was put on innovative techniques that allow to attain a 3D effect within the fabric's structure. The judges also acknowledged great artistic value of works.

AKAPI Fund in memory of Anna Kobak-Pisowacka awarded its honorary prizes:

The Fund also awarded with honorary plaques for their contribution for the art of fibre: Prof. Irena Huml of PAN, Warsaw and Marta Hrebickova of Sarisska Galeria, Presov.

The 6th International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial "Z krosna do Krosna" is one of the elements of a project "Good neighbourhood - cultural cooperation between Krosno and Presov" carried out by the Craft Museum and financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the Cross-border Cooperation Programme, the Republic of Poland - the Republic of Slovakia 2007-2013. The project includes a number of activities which aim at underlining the importance of culture and art as stimuli helping break the barriers in the development of the cross-border societies.

The premiere exhibition of the 6th International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial "Z krosna do Krosna" is open to public until 17th of September in BWA Art Gallery in Krosno, Blich Street 2..

Honorary patronage over this event was taken by the Marshal of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship Mr. Zygmunt Cholewiński and the Mayor of the Town of Krosno Mr. Piotr Przytocki.TVP O/ Rzeszów has taken media patronage.

The Museum of Crafts in Krosno would like to thank participants of the Biennial who have donated their works thus enlarging our unique collection of artistic linen cloth.
